This award encourages the use of the Norwegian Fjord Horse as a useful, versatile and pleasurable riding, driving, and/or working horse by recognizing the number of hours that applicants use their horse or horses. Winners of the award receive various prizes depending on the number of hours they log with their horse or horses. Eligibility: In order to be eligible for this award, the Fjord Horse(s) must be registered with the Norwegian Fjord Horse Registry and the applicant must be a member of the Norwegian Fjord Horse Registry for the entire time that hours are logged for this award. Qualifying: A rider/driver with one specific horse can earn this award logging a specific number of hours using that horse. Alternately, a rider/driver with more than one horse can earn this award by logging a specific number of hours using multiple horses. A rider/driver may apply for this award with both a specific horse and with multiple horses providing that two separate applications are submitted (with two separate application fees paid) and that the hours for each application are logged separately. Logging Hours: Hours logged should be only for actual hours of use of the Fjord(s), whether for riding, driving, or for agricultural work or logging. Basic training of the horse should not be included in these hours. Work in or out of an arena is acceptable. Showing, participation in clinics, and trail riding are all acceptable activities that can be applied towards this award, regardless of whether or not the hours in question are also used to apply for another award. Awards: All hours must be logged on the official NFHR form. All logs for a year must be received no later than February 1st of the following year in order for the hours to be applied toward an award. Prizes will be awarded as follows (Note: the NFHR reserves the right to substitute prizes without notice): A. 100 hours: Certificate, which will include a scanned photo of the horse and rider/driver if a photo is submitted by the applicant. B. 250 hours: Window decal or bumper sticker (NFHR’s discretion). C. 500 hours: Lapel pin or patch (NFHR’s discretion). D. 1000 hours: Embroidered NFHR hat. E. 2500 hours: TBD. Other Acknowledgements: In addition to the prizes, all awards earned will be acknowledged in the Fjord Herald. There will also be special acknowledgement in the Herald for the riders/drivers accumulating the most hours in each of the following age categories: 18 and under, 19-39, and 40 and over.
